I believe that the most effective forms of health care involve a coordinated effort between patient and physician. Information and understanding are critical for the patient to be able to make important decisions with regard to their health. A major component of the physicians responsibility is ensuring that the patient has a good understanding of the illness and plan of care. I believe that a patient should have easy access to ask questions and express concerns. As such I make myself readily available utilizing tried and tested means such as phone calls while also embracing technology such as online communications.

Taro Arai, MD
Taro Arai, MD is a specialist in diseases of the colon and rectum as well as anal diseases.
Born in Tokyo, Japan he came to the United States as an infant. Educated in a Quaker environment he went on to the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a degree in Biology. This was followed by medical school at Thomas Jefferson University.
Internship and residency were completed at The Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia followed by Colon and Rectal specialty training at Saint Francis Medical Center in Hartford Connecticut.
Upon completion of training he joined a single specialty Colon and Rectal surgery practice in Delaware County. He has been in practice since 1997 and specializes in all diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus.
