Complete care for chronic and complex wounds
Chronic wounds that won’t heal are painful and may cause additional health problems if left untreated. Comprehensive wound care reduces the risk of amputation and helps ensure that you return to your optimal health.
Wounds can be the result of:
- Complications from diabetes
- Lymphedema (swelling caused by a buildup of lymph fluid)
- Pressure ulcers, caused by immobility
- Tissue injury caused by radiation therapy for cancer
- Trauma or injury
- Vascular disease
Main Line Health offers comprehensive wound care for all types of wounds at our four convenient Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Centers. We’re committed to providing coordinated, personalized treatment plans to heal your wounds.
Treatment begins with thorough wound evaluation
Your wound care begins with a complete evaluation of your symptoms and medical history. Our wound care specialists will examine your wound and work with other health care professionals to address any underlying conditions.
Common conditions that are associated with chronic wounds are:
- Peripheral arterial disease
- Venous insufficiency
Your evaluation may also include a test to check the quality of your blood flow. Once we know the cause of your wound and the amount of injured tissue, we’ll develop an individualized treatment plan to get you on the path to wound healing.

At Main Line Health, our goal is to heal your wound as quickly and safely as possible. We offer advanced therapies and the most effective treatment options for wound healing. Our multidisciplinary team approach includes collaboration with your physician as well as specialists in plastic surgery, podiatry, trauma, vascular disease and trauma, when needed. We work together to provide treatment and assess your progress as you heal.
Wound therapies include:
- Compression therapy
- Infection control
- Lymphedema management
- Negative pressure wound therapy
- Offloading and wound protection
- Skin and tissue grafting
- Surgical removal of dead tissue
- Topical wound dressings
We also offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to deliver high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream and surrounding tissues in order to promote tissue healing. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps to:
- Decrease fluid buildup (edema)
- Fight infection
- Improve the effectiveness of antibiotics
- Promote new blood vessel formation
- Stimulate new tissue growth
Many times, a combination of wound therapies provides the most effective healing.

Throughout your wound care treatment, you’ll receive information and resources on lifestyle changes to improve healing and how to prevent wounds from recurring. You and your family members will also receive instructions on caring for your wound at home.
Your wound care doesn’t stop with medical treatment. Main Line Health wound care specialists coordinate every aspect of your care—from scheduling consultations with other specialists to arranging any additional services, such as home care or delivery of medical equipment, wound dressings or supplies.
