Charles S. Wade, MD, FACC

MAIN LINE HEALTH CLINICIAN
Headshot of Charles S. Wade, MD, FACC

I believe in focusing on the root causes of disease and approaching heart disease from a preventive philosophy. Understanding that cardiovascular disease is a long-term process, I work hard to get patients involved in their own care. When patients understand their disease and its causes, they are better able to address factors within their control. My goal is to educate patients about their disease—both to ease their stress and to improve their long-term health.

About

Charles S. Wade, MD, FACC

Dr. Wade is a noninvasive cardiologist who served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps before joining Lankenau Heart Group. His cardiology training and clinical practice at large military medical centers allowed him to develop clinical acumen in a broad range of cardiovascular conditions. He also has expertise in several types of advanced cardiac imaging used to manage valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathies. Much of Dr. Wade’s practice is dedicated to caring for people with or at risk for the following cardiovascular conditions: coronary artery disease, elevated blood lipid and cholesterol levels, resistant hypertension (high blood pressure), valvular heart disease, arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), and heart failure. He has a strong interest in preventing and managing heart disease using a personalized combination of lifestyle changes and medications. Dr. Wade has found that many patients can reduce their pill burden if they get buy-in on safe, appropriate exercise and a heart-healthy diet, and his hope is to help patients to help themselves. On a personal note, Dr. Wade grew up in New Jersey and was preparing to go to medical school on 9/11. The tragedy led to his decision to serve in the military. After completing a medical degree from Rush University School of Medicine in Chicago, he joined the U.S. Navy Medical Corps and served for 15 years, achieving the rank of Commander. During his time in the military, he completed an internal medicine residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Prior to transitioning from military to civilian clinical practice and joining Main Line Health, Dr. Wade was a practicing cardiologist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia. He is energized by the opportunity to continue his cardiology career caring for people in the community and building long-term relationships with his patients.
